Jim Sparrow

My name is Jim Sparrow and I am a sculptor based in the ancient town of Rye, in East Sussex. 

I have been sculpting in the film industry for 25 years, primarily creating prosthetics and creature effects. My work has featured in many films and television shows such as Silent Witness, The Hobbit, Game of Thrones and the latest Star Wars franchise.

In recent years I have turned my focus to personal projects, creating sculptures influenced by favourite films and the natural world, as well as taking private commissions and developing sculpture for the local community.

My gallery/workshop (ORCA SCULPTURE) is a stone’s throw from the town centre, so if you are in the area, please come in and see me and my current work in progress.

Each piece is sculpted by me on-site using a variety of clay types and techniques developed from my years as a film sculptor. The finished clay artwork is moulded using the same materials and processes that have been perfected for use in the film industry. From these moulds I will create a limited edition of each artwork, typically ranging between 6-12 pieces in a run.

I only keep one edition of any sculpture in my shop and there is a lead time of 2 to 3 weeks for each item. This is because all my sculptures are individually hand cast, coloured and finished to order, making each piece unique.
